Vjenceslav Richter, Diary, 1976/78, woodcut and screenprint; recipient of the International Jury Prize, 12th International Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 1977.

The exhibition included fifteen colour screenprints made between 1975 and 1978. Vjenceslav Richter was a Croatian architect, sculptor and painter, the founding member of the Zagreb group Exact 51 and a member of the New Tendencies movement. Due to the nature of his art, which is not only systemic, but could also be called permutational, his works were made in graphic series, most often using the screenprinting technique. At the time of receiving an award at the 12th International Biennial of Graphic Arts, he made the so-called spontaneous prints characterised by thick textures of surfaces created with winding lines that in different directions run across a square field. Where they meet, a sort of an edge is formed, which is also the frame of the image.
