Moderna galerija, Ljubljana

Miroslav Šutej, Coloured Circle, 1973, colour screenprint, mobile print; recipient of the Grand Prix, 10th Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 1973.

The exhibition included eighteen prints made between 1971 and 1975. The Grand Prize that the international jury conferred on Miroslav Šutej at the 10th Biennial of Graphic Arts was a recognition of him broadening the graphic processes and the possibilities of using graphic art on new materials and in new relations. Šutej was a creator of optical mobile prints who used uninteresting geometrical compositions to make futuristic landscapes of sorts, full of imagination and visionariness. After 1968, he started engaging exclusively in graphic art and making mobile prints. They consist mostly of colourful mobile parts whose form can change through the spectator’s intervention.
