Rihard Jakopič Exhibition Venue

Joe Tilson, PI. 3 Names and Origins, 1973, colour screenprint; recipient of the Grand Prix d’Honneur, 16th International Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 1985.

The exhibition included twenty prints made between 1966 and 1983. Joe Tilson was one of the founders of the British Pop Art movement; he was an enthusiastic advocate of political activism, sexual liberation and social changes. He strove to broaden the extent and influence of contemporary art, which is why he consistently pushed the existing limits of graphic art and printing. In the 1970s, he moved from London to the Italian countryside and then the content of his works changed when the cultural history of the world became his source of inspiration.
