Jiří Anderle, Comme il Faut, Komedie h. 12, 1969, etching and aquatint; recipient of the International Jury Prize, 8th International Exhibition of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 1969.

The exhibition included twenty-two prints made between 1965 and 1971. Jiří Anderle is a Czech painter and graphic artist best known for his subtle and ghostly figural etchings. His artistic path is strongly connected with the Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts. At its eighth edition, he received the award of the international jury for his prints from the Comedy series. His aesthetics is reminiscent of Leonardo da Vinci’s sketches. Anderle depicts human existence and mortality with works that look like medical drawings by some eccentric 18th century surgeon.
