The exhibition included fifteen colour screenprints made between 1973 and 1975. Bernik received an award for his screenprints made in 1972. These works mark a turning point in his printmaking. Screenprints were characteristic of his printmaking in the 1970s. He used them to draw a parallel with his tendencies in painting – his orientation towards absolute painting and a new understanding of colour. In these screenprints, all the artist’s theretofore tendencies come together in a way, while former symbols are replaced with new ones, a chair or an apple giving way to a hand, a stone or bread, for example. In the image-making process, the motif of the hand intertwines with a photographic image.
