Moderna galerija, Ljubljana

Dževad Hozo, Nobleman II, 1968, colour aquatint; recipient of the International Jury Prize, 7th International Exhibition of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 1967.

The exhibition included fifteen colour aquatints made between 1967 and 1968. Dževad Hozo is a graphic artist who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana and is a representative of the Ljubljana Graphic School. He has a particularly recognisable graphic language whose content is based on stringing elements of the Bosnian cultural tradition and connecting them with their contemporary semiotic interpretations, while its form rests on the respect for the tradition of printmaking and its classic techniques. At the centre of Hozo’s interest are humans and their fate. In his prints, he epically recounts stories that are his personal reflections on the happening in society.
