Moderna galerija, Ljubljana

Božidar Jakac, Teran Vine, 1972, colour woodcut; honorary exhibition, 13th International Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 1979.

The exhibition presented ten prints made between 1921 and 1972. With a small retrospective overview of Jakac’s graphic oeuvre, the Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts marked the eightieth birthday of the pioneer of Slovenian graphic art. The selected prints represented the key periods of the artist’s graphic development – from the Prague period (1919–1923) with its pronouncedly expressionistic characteristics to the periods of lyrical realism, documentary war realism and post-war realism with Jakac’s characteristic poetical note.
