Moderna galerija, Ljubljana

Andrzej Lachowicz, Yellow, from the Proportioned Field Theory series, 1974, colour screenprint; recipient of the International Jury Prize, 10th Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 1973.

The exhibition included twenty colour screenprints made in 1974. Andrzej Lachowicz was a Polish multimedia artist and theoretician, whom the medium of graphic art occasionally suited due to its nature of repeatability and multiplication. The artist’s creativity and views express intellectual independence, are based on the postulates of conceptual art and are close to counter-culture. His prints seem like scientific researches of the visual and mental possibilities offered by the systems of viewing and like explorations of the abilities of perceiving graphic signs.
