The exhibition included twenty works in mixed techniques made between 1973 and 1980. Adriena Šimotová is a unique representative of the Czech fine arts of the second half of the 20th century. After her husband’s death, she abandoned classical painting and began expressing herself through paper and textile (also prints). Her work, which was ascribed a feministic articulation, is poetical, while her tactile manipulation of paper is astonishing, fragile, sometimes brutal, but always humane. In printmaking, she employed mixed techniques, combining etching and aquatint with screenprinting and various interventions in and on paper.
