Moderna galerija, Ljubljana

Tetsuya Noda, Diary: August 8th 77, 1977, colour woodcut and screenprint; recipient of the Grand Prix, 12th International Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 1977.

The exhibition included seventeen prints made between 1976 and 1978. Tetsuya Noda is a contemporary photographer and printmaker. He is best known for his Diary series. His camera is his sketchbook and he uses it to capture various aspects of his daily life. Photography is also the foundation for his printmaking as he reworks and prints his image over a light-coloured woodcutting base. In this way, he combines the past and the present – the tradition of woodblock printing and printing on thin Japanese paper with a contemporary way of capturing and interpreting the world.
