Chin-tao Wu is an internationally renowned researcher of the world of contemporary art and culture. She described its hidden and often suspicious contents in the book Privatising Culture (2003). In the lecture, she spoke about the phenomenon of biennials, which are supposed to manifest the global flow of artists. In the case of Documenta 11, she outlined the direction of this flow and raised the issue of cultural centres and peripheries.
