11–13 June 2019
The board of the International Biennial Association (IBA) visited Ljubljana during the 33rd Biennial of Graphic Arts, members of the organisation that represents and connects all the most important world biennial events within art. The organisation was established in 2012 and includes about 150 international art biennials, triennials and art institutions. The IBA’s mission and vision are realised primarily through the development of connections and cooperation, research, programme content, education and care for the management of biennial events. The IBA Office is currently in the city of Sharjah, the art capital of the United Arab Emirates. The organisation is chaired by Hoor Al-Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation. MGLC – Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts is also among the founding and board members of the IBA. The members of the board attended a working meeting, visited the 33rd Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts, and met with the local representatives of the art scene and artists. Their visit was therefore an opportunity for forging connections and collaborations at the intersection of multidisciplinary discussions about contemporary art.
